Subject: Our Pet Squirrel Dinky 2005
(Posted on Dec 27, 2009 at 01:29PM) Tags: squirrel, pet, pets, pets as squirrels, furry creatures Here is a photo I dug up of our pet squirrel Dinky. She was so tame and so calm she would sit in our laps to eat her peanuts and chocolate.Aside from her ferocious appetite for shelled peanuts, her second passion was chocolate. Dinky lived in the wild, but came for her feedings a few times a day. often times she would rush up to my desk sit in front of me until I got her treats. She loved my husband and would look at him with full love in her eyes. I have so many hilarious stories about her. One in particular stays with me. It was in 2007 summer day. I was 2 blocks away from where I live and out of the hedge out popped Dinky. She looked at me ( she would recognize both of us blocks away ) she followed me home like a house dog. There was a guy walking right behind me and he could not believe what he was witnessing. He did not believe that she recognized me so far away from where I lived, he was laughing his head off. We had her for over 3 years. The last year of her life we noticed her hind end was dragging a bit and she was looking a bit haggard. The last time we saw her was in 2008 in the summer. It's kind of weird because the area we live in is usually polluted with squirrels, after Dinky disappeared we have maybe one or 2 squirrels running around.
